Our Mission
Founded in 2023 to provide an independent publishing platform for author James L. Thompson Jr. and others to generate original and unique stories not told by conventional publishers.
At Peanut City Press, LLC, we believe that everyone has a story to tell and we offer encouragement and advice to aspiring writers to become authors by discovering their own distinctive voices through self-publishing.
Let Peanut City Press be the Cradle of your Creativity.
Peanut City Press is named after Thompson’s hometown (Dothan, AL) known as the “Peanut Capital of the World.” Also, Africans were the first people to introduce peanuts to North America.
Peanuts are plentiful like people, and sometimes people are like peanuts: nutty with many stories to tell!
New Release
Cookies & Lemonade
Peanut City Press is proud to announce that Elaine Denley Slaughter’s Cookies & Lemonade is the first book to be published as part of its Black Gold Collection Series. It is a biography of Alveta Houston Hawk. This book illustrates the trust and love Mrs. Hawk had for Mrs. Slaughter as she dictated her life story to her. In return for the love and the trust, Mrs. Slaughter dictated that all the profits and proceeds from her book be given to the Hawk-Houston Boys Club. Had Mrs. Slaughter not written this book, the life of Mrs. Hawk and her many contributions could have easily been forgotten and dismissed. Please order from Amazon on Kindle E-book or hardcover.
Love is like Glass Slippers
The latest offering from author James L. Thompson, Jr. pays tribute to LOVE and all the many facets of Love. This new book allows one to travel by mind and by imaginary feet to find the shoes that fit your feet.
Love is like Glass Slippers
With Love is like Glass Slippers, I am literally walking in the shoes of characters I have created to get inside their heads and hearts to narrate their stories about love. I also share some of my personal stories about love. I enjoy using distinct voices and finely conceived personas to spin yarns that feel authentic. Each story gives the reader both a familiar viewpoint and one that reads like non-fiction. This book was released on January 15, 2024 and is available on Kindle, paperback, and hardcover. Please order from Amazon.
Previous Title
Just My Imagination Running Away With Me
The previous offering from the author paid tribute to Thompson’s hometown of Dothan Alabama, serving as a “literal love letter” to the people and place that made the author who he has become.
